Young Professionals Contribute $5,000 to Collin College Construction Management Excellence Fund

Dallas Builders Association’s Young Professionals Council Chairman Landon Hood with HistoryMaker Homes on June 25 presented a $5,000 check to Professor Cheri Weinhagen as a contribution to the Collin College Construction Management Excellence Fund. The check consisted of proceeds from the group’s recent bowling tournament.

The Excellence Fund assists students financially on a needs-based basis and helps keep them on track for the program. “Collin College has one of the state’s lowest tuition starting at $1,500 per semester; however, many students still need financial support,” said Hood. “The fund is there to give them a hand up when they need it and has kept several students in the program and on track for a career in our industry.”

The Dallas Builders Association’s scholarship fund benefits students enrolled in Collin College’s construction management program. This program program prepares students to work in a wide variety of management/supervisory roles, both in residential and commercial areas of construction.  Key topics include scheduling, budgeting, personnel management, quality assurance, and safety. Monetary contributions can be made here.

The Young Professionals Council provides programs aimed at Dallas BA members aged 40 and under. Upcoming council events can be found on the events section of DallasBuilders.org.
