Matt Walls with Winston Custom Homes is the Dallas BA Retention Rockstar for March 2021!
Matt Walls with Winston Custom Homes joined the Association in 2015 as a builder member. He became part of the Membership Committee in 2017. Matt was the Vice Chair for the Committee in 2018, and he became the chairperson for the Membership Committee for 2019.
Matt has been in the home building industry since the 1980’s. He started out as a painter when he was 16 and built his first custom home in 1989. He has a true passion for helping his clients and fellow builders. Matt also worked extensively on an Operation FINALLY HOME project that was completed in March 2018 to help provide a mortgage-free home for Major Eric King and his family in Irving.
One of Matt’s main reasons for being part of the Association is the camaraderie it fosters. “Builders and Associates need to be friendly with one another. Things have become volatile in a variety of ways over the past year. Lumber prices being one of them,” Matt explains. “We need to be sure to exchange ideas and work together so we can assist the industry as a group and help each other.”
What works best for Matt when he is attempting to retain members? He emphasizes that “making sure people know what resources are available to them helps retain and recruit members. The benefits that the Association offers help bring members in and keep them. It’s all about making people aware of them and communicating them effectively.”
