Association Supported Constitutional Amendments among Those Approved by Texas Voters
All but 1 of the 10 State Constitutional Amendments met approval of Texas voters during the Nov. 5 election. This included Propositions 3, 4 and 8 that were supported by TAB.
Proposition 3 authorized the state legislature to provide for a temporary exemption from ad valorem taxation of a portion of the appraised value of certain property damaged by a disaster. Proposition 4 prohibits the imposition of an individual income tax, including a tax on an individual’s share of partnership or unincorporated association income. Proposition 8 provides for the creation of a flood infrastructure fund that the Texas Water Development Board could use to finance drainage, flood mitigation and flood control projects after a related disaster.
Texas voters rejected Proposition 1 that would have permitted a person to hold more than one office as a municipal judge at the same time.
