Celina to Hold Builders Meeting to Discuss Changes in the 2021 IRC After Adopting 2021 I-Codes with Regional Amendments

The City of Celina will hold a residential builder meeting on Oct. 5 to discuss changes in the building code. The city adopted the 2021 International Construction Code, including the International Residential Code, on Sept. 13, with the recommended regional amendments from the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).

The builder meeting will be held at the Celina Annex Building at 2 PM on Oct. 5 and builders can contact the Building Inspections department for more information and registration. The department can be reached via email at permits@celina-tx.gov or via telephone at (469) 813-4044.

The regional amendments include provisions advocated for by Dallas BA that provide flexibility and help reduce costs. As it has been for many years, the Association was an active participant in reviewing the 2021 ICC codes, serving on the NCTCOG Regional Codes Coordinating Committee (RCCC). Our members and staff were provided an opportunity during that process to convey the industry’s concerns, and many of those concerns were incorporated into the amendments that have now been adopted by the City of Celina.

The new codes in Celina will be effective November 1, 2022.
