Christopher Clay with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Wins Shorty Howard Award in Back to Back Years!

Christopher Clay with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has been honored once again with the Shorty Howard Award for being the top Dallas BA Membership Recruiter for 2022. Chris earned the award in 2021 for the first time. He was presented with this prestigious award on October 1 at the Dallas BA Installation of Leadership at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving. The Shorty Howard Trophy is named after one of the Dallas BA’s legendary membership recruiters who set an example that, today, the Dallas BA embraces as the embodiment of commitment.

Chris has been in the home building industry for over 15 years. He is the current Membership & Retention Committee Chairman, and he has been an active leader in the Association. He is a big believer in what the Dallas BA offers to builder members and to the home building industry at large. Chris adds that “I speak to builders in 99% of my conversations, and it goes into 2-10’s strategy on how to help builders. These new builder members love the different resources/educational benefits on top of the TAB contracts package they can purchase. There is a tremendous amount of value for them to gain.”

Chris often works with other members of the Association to ensure they have the resources needed to navigate the numerous obstacles they’re facing today. He mentions that “the Dallas permitting issues are something many are grappling with and they are encouraged when they discover the Association is helping builders through them.” Dallas BA advocacy is seen as an immediate value-add and has helped attract new members and retain existing ones.

This is the second time Chris has been honored with the Shorty Howard Award. He has been recruiting members to the Association since he joined in 2019. Why does he enjoy recruiting new members? “In my experience, if you get involved with the Association it will pay you back. What I do with recruitment helps me stay top of mind with builders,” he says.

Chris grew up in the homebuilding industry while his father built homes in the Corpus Christi area. The true passion he shows for the industry flows down from builders, to inspectors, to engineers, associates, vendors, and suppliers. He looks at what he does as a way to help builders make their lives easier and simpler, and recruiting them to be members of their local Builders Association is a big part of that.
