City of Dallas Continues to Review Off-Street Parking Requirements in Development Code
The City of Dallas Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee (ZOAC) has been in review of parking regulations in the development code. ZOAC is considering amending the code to encourage future multimodal transportation and to better accommodate parking needs of development, balanced with the needs of pedestrians.
While the discussion has included concepts to simplify the parking code and even remove parking minimums, it has also included setbacks for buildings from the property line to accommodate sidewalks and pedestrian paths. Design standards aimed to “walkability”, including minimizing curb cuts and addressing sidewalk widths, are also being discussed.
Dallas BA has been monitoring the process and encourages developers and multifamily builders in Dallas to do so as well.
