Collin College Announces New Four-Year Construction Management Program
Starting in the Fall 2022 semester, Collin College will begin offering a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management degree at their new Technical Campus in Allen. The new degree program was researched and developed according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and in consultation with industry experts including the Dallas BA.
The program would be offered at Collin College Technical Campus in Allen in a traditional face-to-face format. Students would complete 42 semester credit hours of core curriculum courses and 78 semester credit hours of industry-specific courses, which meets the state’s degree requirement of 120 hours.
“With our current tuition rate a student can complete this 4 year degree for about $15,000, said Program Director, Craig Johnson. “Yes, that’s right, for about the price of one semester at most 4 year schools you can complete our entire program, and classes will be offered at night so you can work while completing your degree.”
The degree path would be the third bachelor’s program to be offered by Collin College. It follows an analysis by the college that indicated a high demand for construction managers in the industry.
“This is an incredible opportunity for Collin College to build on its immense success,” said Dallas BA President Andrew Pieper with Hillwood Communities. “Our industry is desperate to hire the professionals who will be a part of the program.”
The construction management degree is designed to build on Collin College’s existing certificates and associate’s degree in construction management. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in construction management have the opportunity to seek entry-level positions starting at around $90,000, according to college faculty who helped devise the program.
