Dallas BA Offers Support for Legislation That Provides Better Transparency on Fees
Dallas Builders Association membership and staff joined members from other local HBA’s to offer support for House Bill 2225 by Representative Brad Buckley on April 3 before the Texas House Committee on Land & Resource Management.
H.B. 2225 seeks to extend public notice and disclosure times, create a reasonable threshold for the adoption or increases of impact fees, as well as requiring reasonable time to pass before further increases. The legislation allows for more thoughtful input as well as the opportunity for both municipalities and stakeholders to be assured that projects and calculations related to the imposition of impact fees are actually proportional to new development, as well as considerate of housing affordability.
Testifying before the committee were Dallas BA’s David Lehde and Past President Frank Murphy.
