Industry Resources Update to Reflect Abbott’s Reopening Order, Mask Mandate Repeal

Effective March 10, Governor Abbott has issued Executive Order GA-34, fully opening businesses and repealing the statewide mask mandate. All conflicting Executive Orders were repealed.

If the region’s hospitalizations for COVID-19 exceed 15 percent of total hospital capacity, county judges in that area may restrict businesses to 50 percent capacity. If that occurs, the housing industry is still protected by prior order, specifically GA-14, that designates our industry as essential. The Governor’s resources on reopening Texas can be found here.

Builders are advised to keep their job sites closed to the public in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other hazards that may arise from such incursions. Signage to reinforce this is still recommended.

Despite the recent changes made at the state level, federal regulations, specifically administered through OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, will need to be monitored. The Dallas BA will update members if and when needed.

The Dallas BA’s COVID-19 resource page has been updated to include vaccine information and an update on the impact of the new order. For a list of upcoming Dallas BA virtual and in-person events, please consult the calendar and the Marketing Guide.
