Chris Jackson, CAPS, CGB, CGP, CSP, GMB, is May’s CSP Designee of the month.  The CSP Designation stands for New Homes Sales Professional. However, Chris wasn’t always a talented and successful new home sales person. In fact, in the beginning it was quite the opposite.

But then again, Chris didn’t start a normal sales path like most sales people do. He started out his apprentice career as a trainee in the construction field. The trainee program with Centennial Homes allowed him to experience all the aspects of the industry to find out where he really excelled. The training program had him spending time in the construction field, sales, mortgage, title, warranty and even in the design center. It was clear to Chris, that sales was where his heart was.

His sales career slowly became easier when he realized the power of giving more than getting. Chris started focusing on what other people needed and focused less on what he needed.

This philosophy has served him well over the years, not just in his career but also in his personal life. He found that by giving back to the industry it rewarded him in other aspects of his life.  Since then Chris has served multiple years on the Board of Directors of the Dallas BA but also has been active with the Sales and Marketing Council, the Top Gun Program, Education and Membership Committees and various divisions.

His thoughtfulness and contribution didn’t go unrecognized by others. Chris has achieved an Honorary Life Director status within the Board of the Dallas BA for his consistency in serving and investment within the industry. It’s because of that serving and putting others first that Chris achieved a level of sales success that few others have been able to reach. At his peak he was closing over 100 homes a year and even now with being less involved in sales he still personally closes over 60 homes a year. These sales numbers have been recognized at the McSAM Awards over the years, where Chris has collected multiple awards for sales excellence.

Chris’s sales career is only overshadowed by his capacity for giving back. It’s no different in his personal and family life either.  He achieved the exclusive distinction of Order of the Arrow while becoming an Eagle Scout. He uniquely shares this accolade with his three sons who he helped coach to their own Eagle Scout level. His volunteering as a scout master, church elder, youth football coach and Texas REALTOR™ educator knows no ends.

Having now achieved five different designations through NAHB, Chris has set his efforts toward getting the ultra-exclusive MIRM designation. MIRM stands for Master in Residential Marketing. There are a little over 200 people in the entire nation who hold this distinction, and Chris would be one of only 13 people in the entire state of Texas to achieve this feat.

How do you market your designation?
Through my business cards as well as through all my email correspondence.

What does the designation add to your business?
It shows a commitment to our industry through continuing education and that I choose to make a difference for those who may need my help.

How do your customers respond to your designation?
They respond with respect. From respecting how much time it took to achieve but also the respect on how much knowledge I have obtained throughout the years.
