U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Luisa Velez Project

U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Luisa Velez and her son Spencer were the proud recipients of a new home, thanks to the combined efforts of the Dallas Builders Association, Operation Finally Home, the City of Irving, Winston Custom Homes, Association members and NEC Corporation. This custom-built, mortgage-free home—the eighth such project for the Dallas BA—was completed in July 2022. It marked the 200th Operation Finally Home dedication to a deserving combat-wounded veteran. Corpsman Velez has been recognized with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unity Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, among other accolades.She suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder following deployments to Iraq.
