State of the Industry Summit to Feature James Tobin, Phil Crone

The State of the Industry Summit, presented by Hotchkiss Insurance Agency Nov. 9, features two speakers who will address key issues impacting the market in the North Texas region.

The national political environment is complicating the movement of legislation, as well as new federal regulations that impact home building and development. With Washington seemingly sidelined, state and local governments are racing to fill the void in housing policy. Bringing his unique perspective on the intersection of politics, policy, and the economic outlook and what it means for housing will be James Tobin, who was named the National Association of Home Builder’s new president and chief executive officer in May.

Tobin has 20 years of experience in the housing industry and a proven track record of success in leading federal legislative advocacy.

Former Dallas BA Executive Officer Phil Crone  will cover some of the defining issues he’s working on in his new role as vice president of the Leading Builders of America, whose leadership is composed of CEOs from more than 20 of the nation’s largest home builders, companies that collectively comprise nearly half of the country’s residential construction activity.

Crone will address the numerous regulatory and legislative challenges at the federal and state levels that the housing industry is facing. At the federal level, this includes policies intended to address climate change through energy efficiency, decarbonization and resiliency measures. “Builders continue to face headwinds, especially in western states, which contribute to the nation’s overall housing shortage, but also position DFW as a strong growth market,” he stated.

The event, held at Venue Forty|50 in Addison, begins with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. courtesy of James Hardie Building Products followed by the program at 9 a.m. Tickets are available HERE.
